I’ve never been interested in business. I’ve been interested in creating things
Paraphrased from Richard Bransons book “Business Stripped Bare”.
The act of creating something, whether it’s a website, a video game, or a lego model, is one of the most satisfying things I can do. Over the years I have built up quite a collection of projects. I always have to be doing something. About 10 years ago I realised I might be able to make some money at it, so I started selling video games – but the money has never been the driving force.
I create things because I love doing it. I’m passionate about building awesome stuff and the satisfaction I get from seeing people use my projects is huge. It’s the satisfaction of a job well done – and I hope that everyone who has created something of their own will have had the same sense of satisfaction.
I got into business because it helped fund my passion. Don’t get me wrong – earning money out of it is great – but it’s not the reason I do it. I think the act of creation is a big part of many entrepreneurs lives – people like Richard Branson have no need to work, he could have retired years ago, but they continue to do so because of their love of what they do.
